07/29/13 Sunflowers

Posted: July 29, 2013 in Uncategorized

The story … a man was so taken by the loss of his wife, he planted her favorite flower in a field. He planted thousands of them.  All the sunflowers droop each night and come back to life with the morning sun. They are a beautiful sight as you drive by in Jackson, NJ.

After spotting one of my photos of the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse on Facebook, the keepers of the lighthouse invited us for a personal tour. Needless to say we were so excited and quickly accepted the offer. Michelle, Bion, Shawn, Miss Trixie , and Al were all so friendly. The tour was pretty awesome and very informative. It was one of the highlights of our stay at Acadia National Park this July. We hope to meet up with them again next year. Thanks again to Michelle and Bion for giving us a peak inside that wonderful place. Oh yes, it’s also pretty cool that my image will be hanging over the couch in their living room inside the lighthouse.

Some night shots over Jordan Pond and at the top of Cadillac Mountain. The skies are crazy up here. The Milky Way is a ribbon across the sky and visible with the naked eye. Shooting stars are everywhere. Even caught a little aurora in the first image. What a wonderful place.

Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park is the first place in the eastern US to see the sunrise. That’s the Porcupine Islands in the last photo.
