12/30/13 Island Beach (Fox, Snowy Owl, Sunset)

Posted: December 31, 2013 in Uncategorized

My buddy Marco Crupi (Nada Mas Photography) and myself started out heading to the Barnegat Bay to photograph the sunset. A couple of hours later we had photographed a fox, a snowy owl, and finally the sunset. It was a pretty exciting day down at Island Beach State Park. The weather was quite mild walking down the beach looking for the snowy, but as the sun went down, it became windy and bitter cold on the way back. When we finally got to the bay in South Seaside Park, my hands and face were frozen. Still a pretty awesome day thanks to a red fox, an owl, and mother nature.

12/31/13 Tues. Night As always, gorgeous images. Beautiful fox; very friendly, beggar, since the summer crowds and endless food supply is gone. And the snowy owl is still there watching over things. Happy New Year and many more wonderful photo walks and capturing our beautiful environment. marionZcosta Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2013 23:26:05 +0000 To: marionzcosta@hotmail.com

I have really enjoyed your work.. the red fox with his mouth open is fantastic… actually…all of your photos are great… do you use a really long lense? The fox doesn’t look at all nervous around you!

Hi Katie. For the shots of the fox, I was out about 340mm. For the snowy owl shots I was out about 680mm (Nikon 200-400mm with a 1.7 teleconverter.). The fox are used to people and are not nervous at all.

Awesome. Your work is amazing! Island Beach has always been my favorite place in the world…way back to when it was the Phipps Estate (yes, I am an old broad!) I LOVE all your photos but the ones of the this place take me home for a few moments. (I live in Colorado now.) I wish you would sell some of your work – as photo canvases and note cards. And Snowy Owls in NJ–what a joy!!!
