12/20/15 Snowy Owl Back at Jersey Shore

Posted: December 28, 2015 in Uncategorized

The Snowy Owl has made it’s return to the Jersey Shore.  After the long journey from the Arctic, an adult male has made an appearance on the dunes along the coast. After several gulls continued to harass the Snowy, he decided to find a better spot. On the walk back, there were several Long-tailed Ducks surfing the waves.

Wonderful pictures Ray. So glad snowy is back….do you know where he has moved to? We will be coming down for several days this week with a big lens.

Outstanding photos, Ray. Enjoyed viewing them. Happy New Year!

  3. Ray, is it sacriligeous to be more excited about the long-tailed ducks than the snowy? Thrilled that you found him or her, and well before the hot lines… and that the bird moved for you, as they tend to do — someone recently described her snowy owl experience as ‘looking at a soccer ball.’ My first one looked just like my Himalayan cat, Stardance… At the Brig on Christmas, there was not a single winter duck – and all the tundra swans of a couple of weeks ago were not in attendance. Could they have gone back to their homeland, which must have open water, considering our tropical temps? thank you for the miracle of snowies, always c
